Microblading

Shape and define your brows with expert eyebrow microblading in Wollongong at Advantage Skin Clinic. This technique offers a precise, natural-looking enhancement for those wanting fuller, more balanced brows.

What to expect

Your appointment begins with a detailed consultation. During this time, your dermal clinician will review your medical history, discuss your aesthetic goals and answer any questions you may have. If there are any concerns, they may advise against proceeding with brow microblading or recommend alternative options.

Once cleared, your clinician will outline the planned brow shape using a cosmetic pencil. After you’ve reviewed and approved the design, reference photos are taken for your clinical record. A topical anaesthetic is then applied to help minimise discomfort before the treatment begins.

When the area is ready, your clinician will proceed with microblading the eyebrows. You may feel a light scratching or dragging sensation in the area as they work with a manual microblading pen to implant pigment into the skin. While sensitivity can vary from person to person, the treatment is generally well tolerated by most clients.

Duration

Eyebrow microblading typically takes between two and three hours. A follow-up session is scheduled approximately six weeks later to assess healing and refine pigment placement if needed.

Downtime

Initial healing usually occurs within seven to 10 days. During this period, mild scabbing, redness or tenderness is common. The pigment may also appear darker than expected, but this will gradually lighten as the skin heals.

Complete skin recovery may take up to four to six weeks. Clients are advised to avoid touching and applying products to the area and to hold off on using makeup and saunas as well as swimming.

FAQs

What is brow microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent tattooing technique in which fine pigment strokes are used to simulate the appearance of natural brow hairs. It is commonly performed to enhance shape, density or symmetry in sparse or uneven brows. Unlike traditional tattooing, the pigment is placed more superficially, allowing it to fade gradually over time. The result is soft, natural-looking brows that can last up to 18 months, though this may vary per client.

How long will microblading last?

Eyebrow microblading results typically last between 12 and 18 months, depending on skin type, lifestyle factors and aftercare. A touch-up session is recommended after the initial treatment and periodically thereafter to maintain the desired appearance.

Does microblading hurt?

Microblading involves a manual pen fitted with ultra-fine needles, so some level of discomfort can be expected. However, with the topical anaesthetic, most clients describe the sensation as light scratching or pressure rather than pain.

Can I do microblading while pregnant?

Eyebrow microblading is not recommended during pregnancy. This precaution is based on potential sensitivity to pigments or anaesthetics and the body’s altered healing response during this time. It’s best to wait until well after pregnancy to get a cosmetic tattoo.
