Rosacea Treatment

Rosacea is a common, chronic skin disorder. It usually affects the central face and is episodic and variable in condition. Classically, rosacea presents as acne-like papules and pustules (bumps), red or pink patches and broken capillaries.

The first symptom which patients usually notice is blushing or facial flushing. This becomes more frequent and eventually will lead to persistent facial redness which may fluctuate in intensity.

Rosacea commonly affects the cheeks, chin and nose and is commonly found in people with blue eyes, fair skin or who are of Celtic or English ancestry. It typically presents between the ages of 30-50.

The exact cause of rosacea is unknown. Factors that may contribute include genetics, environmental, vascular or inflammatory factors.
