Advanced Skin Cancer Screening
Why Choose OptimaScan?
High-Resolution Dermoscopic Imaging
Advanced digital dermoscopy allows clinicians to examine the microscopic structures of your skin, identifying changes that traditional checks may miss.
Total Body Skin Mapping & Documentation
OptimaScan creates a detailed digital record of your skin, enabling precise comparisons at each follow-up appointment.
Enhanced Early Detection of Melanoma
The system highlights patterns, colours and structures that may signal early skin cancer, improving clinical decision-making and early intervention.
Exceptional for High-Risk Patients
Ideal for people with multiple moles, previous skin cancers, fair skin, chronic sun exposure, or a family history of melanoma.
What to Expect During Your OptimaScan Skin Check
1. Personal Skin Assessment
Your practitioner reviews your skin history, risk factors, and any spots that concern you.
2. Comprehensive OptimaScan Imaging
Using non-invasive dermoscopic technology, we capture detailed images of all moles and lesions.
3. Expert Clinical Review
A skin cancer doctor evaluates your images, looking for patterns and structural changes that may require monitoring or further testing.
4. Personalised Results & Recommendations
You’ll receive clear guidance on next steps, including monitoring, biopsy, or follow-up intervals tailored to your risk level.
Your Role in Prevention
With OptimaScan, your doctor’s expertise is combined with an objective, timestamped digital record of your skin. Every mole, freckle, and spot is captured on the day of your examination, allowing for precise comparisons over time.

We are the first clinic in NSW, and one of the first in the world, to introduce OptimaScan.
OptimaScan is a new photographic and lighting system which provides standardised lighting and body positioning to record 108 48-megapixel photos of different parts of the body. It does this by rotating around you for 1 minute, taking photos as it travels.
The resulting photos are stitched together to form a photographic 3D model of your body, showing most regions in high detail.
The photos are uploaded to the DermEngine skin photography platform, which allows them to be viewed easily by both you and your skin cancer doctor. Each time your body is photographed, DermEngine will use AI to check for differences and notify of suspicious new and changing lesions.
If you’re searching for skin cancer screening, mole checks, full body skin mapping or the most advanced skin imaging technology, OptimaScan gives you unmatched accuracy and peace of mind.

How long does an OptimaScan appointment usually take?
Most appointments take approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on whether a full-body or targeted scan is required.
Do I need to prepare in any way before the appointment?
We recommend avoiding heavy makeup, fake tan, or moisturisers on the day, as these can obscure imaging. Otherwise, no special preparation is needed.
Can pregnant women have an OptimaScan Skin Check?
Absolutely. OptimaScan is safe during pregnancy because it does not involve radiation, dyes, or any invasive procedures.
Will I be given access to my images?
Yes. If requested, we can provide copies of your images or reports for your personal records or for sharing with other healthcare providers.
Are follow up scans necessary?
For most people, follow up scans are recommended annually, but if you have high-risk features or rapidly changing lesions, we may suggest more frequent scans.
